A staycation in Manila — whether in Makati, BGC, or nearby — works best when you pack light but cover the basics. Most short-term rentals have WiFi, AC, and basic amenities; a small, focused list is usually enough.
Clothes and shoes
Manila is hot and humid most of the year. Bring light, breathable clothes and at least one set that’s smart-casual if you have meetings or dinners. Comfortable walking shoes are useful for malls and short walks; flip-flops or sandals are handy for the pool or common areas. If your building has a gym, pack gym wear; many condos have a washing machine so you can rewear and wash.
Tech and work
Bring your usual devices and chargers. Confirm with your host that WiFi is reliable if you’ll be on video calls. A small extension lead or multi-socket can help when outlets are limited. If you like a second screen, a lightweight portable monitor can turn the dining table into a desk.
Toiletries and health
Sunscreen and insect repellent are useful for any time spent outdoors. Basic first-aid and any regular meds are worth bringing; pharmacies are easy to find in Makati and BGC if you forget something. Many condos supply soap and toilet paper; check the listing so you don’t overpack.
Kitchen and comfort
If you plan to cook, check what the kitchen has (pans, cutlery, stove). You can buy groceries nearby and keep snacks and drinks in the fridge. A reusable water bottle and a small bag for mall runs or day trips will make the stay more comfortable.
Keep it simple
The goal is to feel at home without lugging a full suitcase. Stick to a few versatile pieces, your essentials, and one or two “nice to haves.” That way you can focus on relaxing or working, and still be ready for whatever your Manila staycation brings.
